I’m ordering my second round of this. I’ve read reviews stating it doesn’t work, accompanied by how they applied it.. with no mention of the activator. MUST be mixed with activator liquid to work. I had a very bad outcome last week with red dye turning my hair pitch black. After many home remedies to lighten it, I remembered I had one sachet of Wella renew and a last bit of activator liquid. The pictures will speak for themselves. I now have it down to almost the colour I originally wanted. I only left it on for 30 minutes (meant to be 45 because it was so dark.. but was too scared after all I’d done to my hair that day).
After this nightmare I think I’ll just fade it back down to my natural blonde. Thank you for this product Wella! It is gentle, so don’t expect to go from black to blonde in one hit. Your hair with thank you for it in the end anyway :)

In the Wella training material, Renew Crystal Powder is mostly used on blond hair. I have used Koleston 66/0 + 7/7 + 6% for many years and wanted to switch to Illumina. I applied RCP once for the maximum time on dry hair with heat. I then repeated the treatment the next day to get as much colour out as possible. I achieved some desaturation of my previous colour - maybe half a shade on my more porous top layers - and a lot of red/gold tones to deal with ;)
